Brief Description: DCJS requires any officer providing supervised field training for recruits MUST BE certified.

Full Description: The requirement for attending the Police Field Training Officer Course is that each student must be a police officer or peace officer as defined in the Criminal Procedure Law who have attended an MPTC BCPO or a course that is acceptable to the Commissioner. It is recommended that each student have significant experience as a police officer, very good performance evaluations, possess good communication skills and above average moral character. This course, along with the selection of quality Field Training Officers, will serve as an instructional means in improving the quality and professionalism of policing in New York State.

Reporting Instructions: Please report to the Academy at 0800 to begin class.
